Fall Recreation Season Cancelled

In consultation with local health leaders, the Lenoir Parks and Recreation Department and the Lenoir Youth Soccer Association have agreed to cancel the Fall 2020 recreation Soccer Season.

With the health and safety of our athletes, coaches, administrators and community as our priority, the board of directors made the decision Tuesday to abandon the season due to the COVID-19 pandemic and related administrative and financial challenges.

“Looking at the health and safety challenges we face this fall, we had to make this tough decision to cancel the season in the best interest of our athletes, coaches and community” said Heath Swanson, President of LYSA. “This decision was discussed very thoroughly, and it was not made lightly. We considered all options, but unfortunately there was no scenario allowing us to safely move forward with the 2020 season.”

"We plan and expect to be back on the field for our Spring season."
